Overnight E-Fatbike Adventure to Lake Pöyrisjärvi

Experience a true overnight e-fatbike adventure in the pristine wilderness of Pöyrisjärvi, one of Finland’s most remote and breathtaking Arctic landscapes. This is real wilderness cycling — far from roads, crowds, and everyday life — in a place often described as a hidden paradise of Lapland.

Ride through vast, treeless tundra where the silence is profound and the air is among the cleanest in the world. The landscape is shaped by the Ice Age, featuring rolling sand dunes, small wilderness ponds, and endless open views stretching tens of kilometers in every direction. Here, time slows down and space feels infinite — the perfect setting to fully disconnect and immerse yourself in nature.

The adventure begins in Näkkälä, a small Sámi reindeer village with around 40 inhabitants. We visit an ancient Sámi sacred site (seita) before riding along traditional tracks used by reindeer herders and local people. The route leads us through untouched wilderness to the shores of the crystal-clear Lake Pöyrisjärvi (approx. 15 km).

We spend the night in an atmospheric wilderness accommodation by the lake, surrounded by Arctic silence. In the evening, there’s time to swim in the clear water, try fishing, explore the surroundings, and enjoy a nutritious campfire dinner before resting after a day full of unforgettable experiences.

In the morning, we enjoy a peaceful breakfast before packing up and riding back toward our starting point. On the return journey, we stop at the Fell Lapland Nature Centre, where we enjoy lunch and learn more about Sámi culture and the unique nature of the fells.

The total cycling distance is approximately 30–40 km, and the drive from Levi to Näkkälä takes about 2.5 hours.
