The Arctic Post Road connecting transport is a weekly transport service for cyclists and other hikers from the Arctic Ocean from the town of Alta to Äkäslompolo/Kolar/Kittilä during Lapland's main touring cycling season, i.e. in autumn. A minibus and a bicycle trailer transport 10 bicycle hikers with their equipment at once. The bikes are lovingly handled with silk gloves to avoid transport wear.

It is also possible to transport just a bike box, bike or other equipment in intermodal transport.

Schedule

In 2024, the connecting transport runs every Saturday from August 10 to September 28, 2024. The running dates of the combined transport are as follows: Sat 10.8.2024, Sat 17.8.2024, Sat 24.8.2024, Sat 31.8.2024, Sat 7.9.2024, Sat 14.9.2024, Sat 21.9.2024 & Sat 28.9.2024.

Meeting at 12:00 (11:00 NOR time UTC+2) in the front yard of Thon Hotel Alta. We load the bikes into cars and trailers designed for bicycle transport. The minibus has places for cyclists. Departure from Alta towards Kolar takes place at 13:00 (12 NOR time UTC+2).

Prices and booking

Transport of cyclist, bike and equipment from NORTH TO SOUTH: 169 euro

Transport of just the bike, bike box or equipment in one direction: 59 euros
